  • Picking a best Kinks song was tough.

  • I was hoping it was "Sunny Afternoon." One of my favorite selections (along with your CCR pick).

  • if i ever relax the unwritten rule against more than one song from any artist, here's the list of Kinks songs that could make it:

    You Really got Me
    All Day
    Tired of Waiting
    Stop Your Sobbing
    Dedicated Follower of Fashion
    Sunny Afternoon
    Well Respected Man
    Days
    Victoria
    Lola
    Celluloid Heroes

you may have other picks. outside of the Beatles, i think, the Kinks made more really great music than any other band from the 60s. And they did it for a really long time, too.

  • Anything on VILLAGE GREEN PRESERVATION SOCIETY stands up to the Beatles all day long.

"People Take Pictures Of Each Other" can be a blogger anthem:

The funny thing is, the Kinks have always been considered a "singles" band, like the Who. In England, that is.

  • Speaking of Who singles, check out the used section in OffBeat for a bunch of CD reissues of classic Who singles with the original B-sides. Stuff like I Can See For Miles and Pictures of Lily (soon to be a BSE in its own right), and i don't think any of the B-sides are on Meaty, Beaty, for instance.
