Wagers?

What's the over/under on Roland Burris' resignation? My money is on Friday afternoon, around 4:30 or 5.

  • I doubt he'll resign. He doesn't think he's done anything wrong, just like Blagojovich doesn't think he did anything wrong either.

How long does he need to stay in the senate to get the free healthcare for life, anyway?

  • He'll never step down and he's sounding more and more like Blagojevich by the day. That press conference yesterday was cringe-worthy... "I ask you to stop the rush to judgment. You know the real Roland. I have done nothing wrong and I have nothing to hide"

  • Barry, you're always too ambitious on these things. Weren't you wagering that Sarah Palin would step down from the VP nomination at some point?

If no other straws hit the camel, the back doesn't break. I won't predict a timeline, but I'll predict that the next straw will be the last one.

  • I win more than i lose.

If anyone but Harry Reid was in charge of the Senate Dems, Burris would already be packing his bags.

  • A Chicago minister told The Associated Press he and other black pastors who previously supported U.S. Sen. Roland Burris now plan to ask him to resign. The minister spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because a meeting with Burris hadn't yet been scheduled.

Many of the city's black pastors supported seating Burris because of his scandal-free reputation — even though he was appointed by then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich after the governor was arrested.

But revelations that Burris attempted to raise money for Blagojevich while seeking the Senate job have eroded some of his support. Blagojevich is accused of trying to sell the Senate appointment.

A Burris spokeswoman didn't immediately return a phone message.

Burris is toast. My bet still stands.

  • You gotta know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em.
