Rutting season

Awfully glad it's not my job to clean up the road kill on I-85 this week.

Yikes.

  • Holy crap the amount of carnage i've been seeing on 40/85 over the past couple of weeks has been unreal...i mean ALL OVER the road.

  • It doesn't appear to be anyone's job.
There's been a dead deer on 70 near Wayside Baptist for a week. You'd think a good Christian would remove it.

  • Must be on the bypass side. I take the business 70 fork at the church every morning. Right past the Wayside Baptist Church Athletic Field and Cemetery.

Bet Orange County has someone whose job it is to remove dead animals. Probably no one's bothered to call it in yet.

  • There was a dead deer on NC-86 this morning, and what I presume was one underneath about 18 vultures huddled around something on the side of Whitfield Rd.

  • Saw three more myself this morning. Two on I-85, side by side near the Jersey wall by the city limits, and one on 70 about a quarter mile east of the 70 bypass/business 70 split. Plus various raccoons, possum, and foxes. Saw something grey and larger than a fox the other day, but i can't imagine that any wolves have made it to this part of the state.
